Bhubaneswar: There will be no looming shortage of fuel in Odisha as transport motor workers called off their strike following a discussion with government on Monday. The workers had given the strike call opposing proposed provisions against drivers in road accident cases under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
“We discussed the issues with representatives of Odisha Motor Transport Workers Federation and told them that the Union home secretary suggested wide consultation would be held before notification of the new measure,” chief secretary P K Jena said.
The meeting was also attended by commerce and transport department principal secretary Usha Padhi, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack police commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi and Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh among others. tnn
