Surat: Surat city police on Thursday nabbed an accused in a fake currency racket, who was wanted for seven years. Sumit alias Dipu Verma (Dangi) was an accused in a case registered at Varachha police station in 2016.
Verma was part of a fake currency racket run from West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. In 2016, accused Shankar Sunil Mandal printed fake currency notes at his home in Ghasipur village of Murshidabad.After that, Shankar sent Mursalim Mandal and Sohrabali Mandal to Surat to hand over the fake notes to Verma. But Varachha police caught Mursalim and Sohrabali with fake notes.
Verma was in his native village in Itkhori village in Jharkhand but shifted to Ranchi. But later, he shifted back to Surat 15 days ago and started working in a textile market. tnn
