GIFT City to be top global financial centre: Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel | Ahmedabad News
AHMEDABAD: Chief minister Bhupendra Patel said that the Gujarat International Finance Tec (GIFT) City is poised to become one of the world’s premier international financial centres in the coming years. He said with the ongoing infrastructure expansion, the fintech hub will be spread over 3,400 acres.
Patel met several dignitaries, including country heads and top representatives of multinational corporations and trade organizations, in Gandhinagar on Tuesday.Patel met Mozambique president Filipe Nyusi, Timor-Leste president Jose Ramos-Horta, DP World group chairman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, APM Terminals CEO Keith Svendsen, and others on Tuesday.
The CM said that presently, there are 580 operational entities in the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) at GIFT City and large-scale investments have already been flowing in GIFT-IFSC, including those from global players like Google, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley etc.
Patel also met Prasoon Mukherjee, representing the Singapore Business Federation, on Tuesday to discuss the rapidly emerging ecosystem of semiconductors, green energy and other futuristic sectors in Gujarat.
The CM met JETRO executive vice-president, Kazuya Nakajo, and deliberated upon the robust bilateral ties between India and Japan with focus on sectors like automobiles, electronics, and pharmaceuticals. Dholera SIR was suggested for semiconductor manufacturing, and discussions included incentives for green hydrogen production and opportunities in electric vehicles under Gujarat’s policies. The CM also engaged in detailed deliberations with Marisa Gerards, The Netherlands ambassador to India.
