JOB TITLE: Deputy General Manager, Sales

DESCRIPTION:
The Deputy General Manager is an integral component of the sales department and sales function. He/She is an important support element of sales, as well as an active sales person. As part of the sales team the DGM will be meeting directly with customers, reviewing specifications, researching, developing detailed quotations and proposal drawings and negotiating with customers to help close the sale. The DGM must be able to represent the Company in a positive manner, both by report and technical savvy.
REPORTING:
The DGM reports to the General Manager of Sales and Marketing.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education
Required: BE/B.Tech/BS degree or equivalent experience.
Preferred: BE/B.Tech/BS degree in Electrical Engineering. Five to Ten years of electrical switchgear / switchboard sales experience.
Skills
The DGM must have a good understanding of the Electrical Switchboard industry. He should have a handle on enclosure & bus bar estimation and prices of the bill of materials that go to make the Switchboards. His understanding of the technical specifications required for well engineered Panel Boards should be rich in exposure and knowledge. He must be familiar with preferably both Low Voltage as well as Medium Voltage Control Panels and Bus Ducts. Should he be experienced in multiple source power synchronizing applications, power factor correction technologies and motor control centers, it would be excellent. Past selling in segments of Building, Industry, OEM and Infrastructure segments working with Electrical Consultants and Contractors would make for an ideal candidate.
Organisational skills to develop a team, guide them and lead them is essential.
Communication skills internally and externally with group selling, strategic selling and value selling is essential.
Analytical skills to work with Specifiers, and offering right solutions to Customers in collaborative manner ideal.
Teamworking skills in handling priorities, dealing with constraints and coaching and motivating is key.
Sales skills in projects in a diagnostic manner leading to customised switchboard solutions would be wonderful.
Commercial awareness of statutes, taxes, excise, and general terms and conditions of sales that dictate a contract is important.
Personal skills with right attitude, behavior and caapability with passionate and missionary zeal in aligning with Company goals is critical.
A full driving licence is also normally necessary.
Typical responsibilities of the job include:
Identifying and establishing new businesses through Electrical Consultants, Business associates and Tenders.
Organising sales visits on regular basis to key accounts to continually look for ways to make them succeed.
Liaising with existing clients and focusing here so that 20% of our Customers get us 80% of our business.
Preparing tenders, proposals and quotations in time with accuracy and strategy to win together.
Providing pre-sales and after-sales support with care & concern so as to build long term relationships.
Negotiating contracts, terms and conditions to a win win or no deal. Attempt to align with Company standard T&C.
Reviewing cost and sales performance and focus those where the value we offer is most respected.
Writing reports and sales literature to standardise sales processes, culture and to sustain scaling of the business.
Providing product education and advice to Customers and end users both in house as well as at Client locations.
Attending trade exhibitions, conferences and meetings to keep abrest of latest trends and seek new opportunities.
Ensuring that sales targets are met and exceeded in a consistent, planned and profitable manner.
